Letter to Residents

September 1, 2023

Dear Winchester Resident,

Police Departments in the area are noticing an increase in stolen cars and vehicle break-ins in West County including the City of Winchester.  The Mayor and Board of Aldermen encourage residents who may see something, or have video from a surveillance camera to contact the Ballwin Police Department immediately.  This information can be used as evidence if it is provided to the police department as soon as possible.

We want to encourage our residents to follow the #9PMRoutine.   Taking five minutes every night can save you hours, days, weeks, months, or even years of heartache.  Please set your phone alarm for 9 pm every night and join us in the #9PMRmroutine.  Practicing the 9pmRoutine can keep you, your home and belongings safe.

Be vigilant and do not leave these items in your vehicles:

Phone                        Keys                           Credit Cards

Laptop                       Firearms                   Jewelry

Wallet                        Money

Because of the increase in vehicular crimes the Ballwin Police Department is performing extra patrols in our city.  If you see a crime being committed it is important for you to call 911 immediately.  Do not ever try to confront a thief on your own!

Mayor Gail Winham & Board of Aldermen
